The story behind the show

The most personal story Jill has ever told

Lee Porter Butler — architect, visionary, the man who co-created EKOTECTURE with Jill in 1992 — left on November 22, 2005. This show begins in that loss and ends in duty. It begins with Lee Porter Butler — architect, visionary, the man who brought EKOTECTURE into the world — and unfolds across oceans, forests, Findhorn, and a singular tree that became the emblem of everything we built and everything we lost.

Part monologue. Part gallery. Part activist manifesto. The title was always there — Lee, Me and the Tree — conceived first as a film, now realised on the Edinburgh stage. I stand there and I tell the truth: the Dolphins are still singing. The question — the only question — is whether we are listening.

"The Dolphins are still singing. The question is whether we are listening."

— Jill Karlin, from the show
The campaign

Help carry this story to Edinburgh

The Dolphin Dream community campaign covers production, travel, and the on-site Art installation at Surgeons Hall Theatre 3 — the room where the story finally reaches the world. Every contribution — whatever its size — is part of the story now. This is how an ocean painter reaches the world's greatest arts stage.
