Short biography

About Jill Karlin

50-word biography:
Jill Karlin is a visionary painter, lifelong Yogini, and Co-Founder of EKOTECTURE — the 100% self-sustainable environmental architecture she and Lee Porter Butler co-created in 1992. Lee's work was case-studied by the Brookhaven National Laboratory and the US Department of Energy, and found to be the most energy efficient, CO₂-benign homes ever studied (published 1981). He taught at the University of California Berkeley, Graduate School of Design. His archives have been donated to North Carolina State University. During 1978–1981, press coverage of Ekose'a Homes exceeded 65 million pages; 40,000 floor-plan books were sold. Born Boston, 1954. Based Lake Worth, Florida. In 2026, she brings her most personal story to the Edinburgh Fringe: The Dolphins Are Still Singing. Can You Hear Them?
